Repertoire
It all began with Debussy.
During the 2nd world war, Debussy was inspired by a letter written to him by Stravinsky, expressing the need for the composers of the day to write beautiful music to be heard when the canons ceased. He decided upon the sonorous combination of flute, viola and harp to create one of his greatest and final masterpieces. This ground-breaking combination of instruments has gone on to inspire many composers to write for this chamber ensemble.

Biography
Formerly the Echo Chamber Ensemble, FvH made their concert debut in 2012 with the McEwen Commission of Martin Suckling's Tenebrae at Glasgow University. Since then they have performed to enthusiastic audiences all over Scotland, with a keen eye on developing new music for the combination along with a love for the core repertoire. FvH is an exciting collaboration of three passionate musicians fusing a blend of sonorous instrumental contrast and emotion.
Ruth Morley, flute, divides her time mainly between performing with Red Note Ensemble, and a lecturer in flute at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has appeared at most of the UK's major music festivals, and plays regularly on Radio. She has recorded for Delphian, Metier, 7hings and Mode, and has broadcast a live solo recital for Classic FM. Recent Red Note concerts include opening the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and tours to the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland. She plays regular solo recitals with pianist Scott Mitchell and appeared with Hebrides Ensemble, Edinburgh Quartet, and as soloist with London Concertante.
Violist Scott Dickinson was born in Glasgow. He was a member of the Leopold String Trio and appeared with the Brodsky, Chilingirian, Elias, Navarra and Royal Quartets, regularly with the Hebrides, Nash and Red Note Ensembles and as guest principal viola with numerous orchestras including the London Philharmonic, London Symphony, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, John Wilson Orchestra and World Orchestra for Peace. Scott is principal viola of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Scott teaches at the Royal Conservatoire is Scotland and is an Artistic Advisor to the Tunnell Trust for Young Musicians.
Sharron Griffiths is one of Scotland's busiest concert harpists, she regularly performs with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. Sharron is also a member of the Bardic Trio [Tenor Jamie MacDougall & Guitarist, Matthew McAllister] Clyde Duo with Flautist, Aisling Agnew and appeared soloist with the Royal Northern Sinfonia. Sharron teaches at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, St Andrews University and regular tutor for the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland.
