Biography
McOpera Ensembles and McOpera Outreach are a flexible ensemble offering both standalone concerts and outreach projects for chamber music societies.
Recent activity ranges from chamber music recitals and concerts (Music at St. Cyprian's, Lockerbie Music Society, Linlithgow Arts Guild), orchestral and choral performances (Bearsden Choir, Glasgow City Halls, Strathendrick Singers, Killearn Kirk) to outreach projects for schools and communities (Milngavie Music Club, Linlithgow Arts Guild, Music Nairn, Lammermuir Festival, Haddo Arts).
McOpera will work closely with all promoters to devise and deliver the performance you want and/or bespoke outreach packages for your organisation
Examples of recent activity include:
• "Let's Make an Opera" - music workshops led by composer/ workshop leader supported by professional musicians, working with primary school children to create a short ‘opera' from scratch (Linlithgow Arts Guild, Lammermuir Festival, Music Nairn, Milngavie Music Club)
• "A Song for…" - orchestrally accompanied song writing projects written by and for the local community for primary age singers, high school instrumentalists and professional musicians. This project can form part of a main concert series (Haddo Arts, Milngavie Music Club)
• "The Tales Project" - Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale" , can also be paired with a commissioned piece based on local tales of heritage and history by Peter Kemp for children's chorus and professional instrumental septet (Linlithgow Arts Guild, Milngavie Music Club)
"one of the most ambitious and memorable that Milngavie Music Club has undertaken in its 75-year history...a truly extraordinary event." (Hugh MacDonald)
• Young Musicians' Performance Projects, side-by-side orchestral and chamber music concerts devised, rehearsed and performed by professionals with young musicians and/or local adult players
