Biography
Oxana Shevchenko was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where she studied with Valentina Tartyshnaya. She graduated from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, studying piano with Elena Kuznetsova and Sergey Kuznetsov.
Oxana earned her Master's degree after studying with Dmitry Alexeev at the Royal College of Music (London, UK) and Jean-François Antonioli at the Haute Ecole de Musique (Lausanne, Switzerland). She attended Corsi di Perfezionamento at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, studying with Benedetto Lupo.
In 2010 Oxana won the First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition. Following this, she worked with Delphian Records on her debut recording, released in 2011, which includes works by Shostakovich, Mozart, Liszt, and Ravel.
Oxana's competition successes include First Prizes at the Verona International Piano Competition, Luciano Luciani International Piano Competition, Orbetello International Piano Competition, International Premio Franz Liszt Competition, etc. She also won Fourth Prize, the International Music Critic Prize, at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition; Fifth Prize and the Chamber Music Prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition;
Oxana gave her first performance as a soloist with the Kazakh State Symphony Orchestra at the age of nine. Since then, she has performed with symphony orchestras worldwide, including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Symphoniker Hamburg, Radio Symphony Orchestra Pilsen, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, and Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra.
She has collaborated with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Yoel Levi, Martyn Brabbins, Ronald Corp, Pascal Verrot, Koji Kawamoto, and Rumon Gamba. Recent seasons include performances at Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Recital Center, Southbank Center: Royal Festival Hall, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Wigmore Hall, Laeiszhalle, Tonhalle, Lucerne Festival, Istanbul Festival, Absolute Classics Festival, Sion Festival, Palermo Classica Festival, and Teatro Colsubsidio Bogota.
