Biography

Trio Ecossaise have performed together for over twenty years. 2025 started with the trio giving the world premiere of Helen Leach's As The Feet of a Deer for Dunfermline Music. The piece was very enthusiastically received.

The Trio work with promoters to tailor a programme to satisfy and entertain, and enjoy creating a rapport with their audiences. In addition to concert performances across Scotland all three musicians have a strong commitment to education and outreach projects and see this work as vital in enhancing the listening experience for regular concertgoers and creating an audience for the future. The Trio have delivered interactive workshops and masterclasses in primary and secondary schools and worked in different combinations in healthcare settings, equally at home improvising with dementia patients or playing lullabies to babies in intensive care.

In addition to their chamber music commitments, they each pursue busy and diverse freelance careers.

Jennifer returned to Scotland in 2006, following studies at the RNCM and Indiana University and four years as Principal clarinettist with the Orchestra of the Algarve. She has played with UK orchestras including the CBSO and RSNO, has broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and has performed in the Aldeburgh Festival, the Algarve International Music Festival, and at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London.

Harriet studied at Oxford University and the Guildhall and spent 8 years freelancing in London before returning to Scotland in 2005. She has toured with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and works regularly with their education department delivering outreach programmes in schools, hospitals and prisons. Harriet has performed on stage for cabaret and theatre and records regularly with the Pumpkinseeds Session Orchestra.

Claire is much in demand both as an instrumental and song accompanist. Claire studied at the RCS and the Guildhall and has worked as a staff repetiteur at Scottish Opera. She is the official accompanist for Glasgow University's music department and tutors and accompanies at the RCS Junior School and the Music School of Douglas Academy.
