Biography

Described as “superb” and “sensational”, the Trio Lalique was founded in 2022 by

pianist Ilya Kondratiev, violinist Yuri Kalnits and cellist Julia Morneweg, each already a renowned chamber musician in their own right. Their debut as a group in the prestigious Pharos Arts Foundation series in Nicosia (Cyprus) was praised for its virtuosity and musical artistry alike.

Between them, they have performed as soloists and chamber musicians at many of the world’s greatest concert halls including London’s Southbank Centre, King’s Place, Zurich Tonhalle, Munich’s Gasteig, Suntory Hall and the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatoire as well as at major festivals.

Ilya Kondratiev trained at the Moscow Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music, where he has been a professor since 2019. He is a prize-winner of numerous international competitions and a regular guest at international festivals.

Two-time Diapason d'Or winner Yuri Kalnits enjoys a distinguished career as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artist, whose releases of music by Weinberg and Prokofiev have been met with world-wide critical acclaim.

In constant demand as a chamber musician, cellist Julia Morneweg's career encompasses a wide range of work as a soloist, guest principal cello and artistic director that regularly sees her work closely with many of Europe's finest musicians.

Outside of their work as a trio, Ilya, Yuri and Julia also collaborate in larger chamber music formations as part of the acclaimed London ensemble ChamberMusicBox.
